1) Great timing, jackasses. Grass on the street is FINALLY starting to take hold... and parades start in a few weeks.
2) Is there really a need to sync lights on this stretch? It's in a residential hood and not really that heavily traveled. There are many other places that could benefit from this project.

The crew is apparently digging a trench to install a fiber optic cable that will eventually synchronize the traffic lights along Napoleon.

Seriously why on Earth would they do this before Mardi Gras? Unless it'll be done before then?

There is this thing called funding that they have to embezzle by a certain time..

How... how can it possibly be that complicated to synch traffic lights?

It won't be... and even if it was... it won't help during Mardi Gras because the traffic is too bad anyways AND you know they will just leave a mud pit there.

All you people that were ok with getting rid of net neutrality can finally see the consequences.

The lights from Claiborne through the area of Baptist Hospital and up to Freret are the fricking worst, though.
I do find it unbelievable that it requires the digging up of the street and laying of fiber optic cable to rectify.

They're tearing up the neutral ground, not the street

OK... but they are installing from Magazine to St Charles. Completely different part of Napoleon.

Napoleon is definitely one of the more heavily traveled streets in that area, so it needs to be done. Driving the stretch between Claiborne and St Charles is infuriating. The timing though, could not be any worse. Really? Mardi G ras is a month away and they decide to tear up the street now?

sadly... there may actually be something to this
have to beat the end of the fiscal year or lose it and potentially get less money from the feds/state next fiscal year

This cannot be overstated. I always catch at least two of them.

Settle down, they are just burying some cables in the median, it’s not like they are ripping up the streets to make way
It took Cox a day to do it on my parents street. as dumb as the city workers are in nola, I’m sure they can bury some wiring in a month

The median is not completely contiguous. They will have to rip up some streets for this it seems.
