Unlike SARS and MERS, the last two novel coronaviruses to plague humanity, SARS2 will never go away. While MERS is still around in the Middle East, it is not the beast that SARS2 is.
SARS2 is extremely contagious. It has nearly 8 billion people to feed upon. Our best hope is that it will mutate to a less deadly form like the other 4 coronaviruses that, along with certain rhinoviruses, make us miserable with common colds.
