The Outer Banks are scenic but the sand is crappy, the water cold, and the people trashy.

Is North Carolina really the South?

NC is a huge state geographically. The coast, Charlotte, the Triangle and the Asheville area are infested with Yankees. The rest of the state is extremely Southern, especially the areas between Charlotte and the coast that border SC.

Raleigh is better than New Orleans in several ways.

I got at least 40 states I like more than NC. Honestly one of the worst IMO.

NC has a large black population. The difference is a lot of them are well-educated and have good jobs (thanks to NC's excellent job market).

Glad you really stuck it out to make a good judgment on it.

I can’t provide any more ridicule than that. NC is a nice place. I wouldn’t mind living there.

Friend,

I cannot. Still, North Carolina does not have a city even half as great as New Orleans. It is a beautiful state, but it is lacking a great city.

As a place to raise a family, New Orleans isn’t a great city. As much as I miss Louisiana, the state does not have a great city either.

I have to travel to Charlotte and Raleigh for work a handful of times a year. Both areas are nice but what stands out to me is that South End area of Charlotte has a lot of hot women. I mean like head on a swivel driving through the area in the middle of the day.

I grew up and we still have a house near the NC/SC line and being an adrenaline junkie Western NC is a great place. The best rock climbing in the East (save New River Gorge in WV but NC has more variety). It has everything from great bordering to near 1000' big walls. Both mountain and road cycling is excellent. Great areas for backpacking and the trout streams in Pisgah have some amazing fly fishing. The outer banks are great for isolated beaches and the deep sea sportfishing is excellent. The skiing is typical East coast but if you master skiing East coast ice you are a god in the West.

NC is by far my favorite Southern state but it has everything to do with being someone that likes to be in the outdoors particularly in the mountains.

ETA great white water kayaking as well.

Bank of America and Wells Fargo have big offices there
Yea BOAs is Back office, so that’s out, but Wells is a trading desk

ETA: also forgot DB and CS have had offices there for years too

We have South of the Border, the most refined tourist destination of the Carolinas, located right outside Dirty Myrtle. This makes SC >>> NC. Pedro said so.

I've lived in one of the more affluent towns outside of Raleigh for the last ten years. Best place I've ever lived. Those of y'all who haven't lived here don't realize what a desirable place this is.
