Off topic: Blue Buffalo has been known to cause pancreatitis in more elderly dogs, you might consider switching to Purina unless your animal is young.

Dude you can feed your dog actual meat for less than that.

No one who keeps their dog safe, fed and cared for is a bad pet owner.
We all have our own sensibilities and price points (I don't have kids so I probably do dote on the dog, for example), but in the end we're all within $20 of each other.
The price increases in all forms of their food, however, are truly obnoxious.

You can get a 10lb bag of chicken legs for $6 to $8. That's .60 to .80 per pound.

We have tried almost every brand of dog food in the store.
Golden Retriever and German Shepherd have been on prescription dogs foods that are $125 for 25 lb bag, we have tried preparing cooked food at home (what a nightmare in both time, labor and space to do), have tried frozen fresh food (Ollies and Farmers dog, both $$$$) wnt back to dry hard food, and within past month are now trying Steve's Frozen Raw dog food which again is $$$.
Never seen two dogs with so many allergies, skin bumps/growths, ear/paw/skin infections, etc.
When I was a kid we fed our German Shepherds a giant bag of Alpo dry dog food, never an allergy, infection or any issues.
The treatment of pets completely mimics the human healthcare system, animals are filled with cancers, the pet food and pharmaceutical companies have infiltrated veterinary schools and teachings. Got a problem, give your dog some pills. Finally, found a vet that supports a raw diet, they are few and far between.

Yet the government says that inflation is only 8.5% and under control.

Is your dog a working dog, like she herds sheep all day? If not, she doesn't need high protein food. Too much protein for a house dog could hurt her kidneys or liver.

bullshite.
My dog made it to 16 on that high protein food. if he didn't have it, he scratched his fur out and his eyes drained all the time. I've seen quite a few dogs make it well into old age with such dog food.

Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein dog food.
There is no benefit to a dog from a grain free diet and it can give them heart problems. You can buy cheaper food that is better for your dog.

Wolves aren't having a problem with protein for thousands of years. Most dog food is made up of filler material: oats, cornmeal, rice, potatoes and other crap that is heated at high temperatures and compressed into pellets. The high temperatures kill off whatever meat nurtitional value was there at the start. Dog's stomachs are not suited for or able to digest grains very well.

It’s approx 33% increase which is about what what I’m seeing generally across the board for everything.
Let that sink in: Americans have lost approx 30% of their buying power.

Sam’s has 35lb bags. $40 after tax

I said it could hurt their kidneys or liver, not that it's guaranteed to happen 100% of the time. If it stops other problems, then that's a tradeoff that may be worth it to the individual owner. Not my dog, not my business.
OP could switch to a less expensive lower protein food if he wants to based on his dog's activity level. Or not. Up to him and his wife.

PETA already kills plenty of dogs and cats every year. Expanding that won't be an issue for them.
