I just can't imagine falling for something of that nature unless I was stupid or guilty. I don't believe you btw. Some type of coin thing? you're telling me your wife would have done this without a text or a phone call to you? No sale.

Sorry to make matters worse, but your wife is cheating on you and Jody just got $17,000 richer.

So your wife went to the bank and withdrew 17k to give to some coin thing because “they” have a warrant?

This is either a lie or you married a complete moron.

Two possibilities
1. You are lying
2. Your wife is dumb as a rock. I hope shes hot because she brings nothing else to the table.

Scamming the elderly and the mentally disabled should be a capital offense.

You're missing the 3rd and most likely possibility... OP just got scammed by his wife.

My bet is #3

They tried this scam on me before and I totally bought it until they started asking for payment over the phone. It starts out pretty convincing depending on who calls you.

FWIW try to go easy on her. I know that’s a hell of a lot of money to lose. But I’m sure she is beating herself up about it pretty bad.

Something doesn't add up and I'm not buying her story. If, big IF, this is somehow true and somehow you are able to stay with her and move past this then you need to get separate accounts immediately. She cannot be trusted with money.

I'm just curious what someone thinks they might be guilty of that would require seventeen thousand dollars to pull in their arrest warrant

Smells like plausibility? Might there have been a warrant out for her arrest?

To whip out $17k in no uncertain terms and without consulting together…?

My wife would have chuckled. I would have chuckled. The day my wife has warrant out for her arrest is day wives are now illegal people.

It is hard to believe. She called me from the Sheriff's department. I have the receipts from the transactions. My neighbor looked up everything and said several other people fell for the same scam.

She actually drove to the Sheriff's department while on the phone and gave the phone to an officer.

I can't ever wrap my head around this. I keep asking her how could she think a law enforcement officer would want her to take bitcoin.

I just can't believe this. I want to fricking throw up.

first rule of having a brain is don't answer any phone call on your phone that you don't recognize, second rule is if you inadvertently do answer and they begin their speil is to hang up and delete/block the number

I can’t imagine how she must feel. This is one of those times that your reaction and understanding, or lack if, will always be remembered.
