As far as traffic goes, I didn't experience any as I never got in anything but a golf cart for 5 days

Traffic isn't bad because of all the golf cart infrastructure. It's everything else. It's why they are having to build all these support neighborhoods for new/young families. Start trying to find a doctor, all the other little crap you need in your life. It's just another busy arse upper middle class HOA hell, plus you got to deal with the weather of central Florida. I want out of that grind in retirement. And it is just getting worse as it gets more popular.

We spoke to restaurant and retail shop staff and all loved working in the villages. Lawn care and pool maintenance guys were friendly. I really didn't see any bad attitudes or poor behavior. Everyone we encountered were very friendly. Some restaurant service were a little slow on the weekend as many non residents come in for the live music, but heck I'm retired and not in a hurry.

God forbid people actually pay for a service and expect a decent product for their money

Beware.. it's a cult. If having a bunch of old people nosing into your business sounds appealing, be my guest. Ridiculous deed restrictions and expenses with old people "citizen police" and mega drama. No thanks! Hang out there for a while and you will know what I mean. NIMBYs everywhere with houses essentially without back yards

But they have lanais.

Pickleball daily, swimming, hot tub, evening live music and dancing, quiet friendly neighborhood, and riding a golf cart everywhere. What a place, I highly recommend it as a 55+ community. Now we are looking to sell and relocate.

I visited once. Had an odd feeling the whole time. Like an 80s scary movie where everything seems perfect on the surface, but you know there's some weird secrets buried not too deep.

I can say this...every vacation I've ever taken, I was ready to return home by the end. I did not want to return home from The Villages.

The Villages is not even a high STD area of Florida.

The lie began in the early 90s, when people who apparently don't like consenting adults enjoying each other's company, began spouting it

Yea, that was a big rumor that continued to spill over. It’s actually well below the national average per capita for a city

Almost every senior living community I’ve ever seen started at 55. Pelican Point. Villages. You name it.
