It's apparently widespread, but doesn't fit our bubble.

Can not the same be said for Millennials and Gen Z. I see a lot of screwed up people in those generations too. All generations have played or are playing a role in how the world functions today.

Quite honestly, I have little regard for idiots in any generation so I try to enjoy the things that make me happy like my kids and grandkids and let others deal with life in their own way.

Of course, some Boomers have totally screwed up. So have other generations. That is the way it will always be.

The at least 50% of boomers with little to no retirement.

Any boomer not willing to end SS.

What are You doing to ensure that your kids and grandchildren are taken care of?
Saving the majority of my income, investing, paying off what debt I have, putting away for tuition, trying to support the most fiscally responsible policy positions available.

Doing what I can.

You sound irrationally angry about this topic.

In what way? I recognize the failure of the previous generation.

Of note, my boomer father also recognizes the failures of his generation.

I am just here to share my opinion.

Why do boomers become so critical when their flaws are pointed out?
quote:

Did your parents not treat you well, seriously?
Nope.

Parents were great, but I have learned from here that my parents are apparently the exception, not the rule when it comes to boomers.

It’s absolutely incredible how you and the Kentucky dude are missing the point but I guess that’s why we are where we are

That is kinda our point.

“Responsible” was the exception.

You want the 50% you claim to have little to no retirement to end SS?

Is this where the "go ahead and die" comment comes from?

What problem do you have with the way I saved and planned for retirement.

You are doing the exact same things we did in terms of saving. Good for you.

So, you don’t plan on taking any SS distributions when you hit retirement age? Not even to reinvest in your family?

They can receive heavily restricted and controlled welfare, like everyone else.

Or, I am willing to give in and allow a temporary fulfillment of the requirements to those who are truly in need, under the stipulation that it ends entirely.

What point are you trying to make. Poorly thus far I might add. Do you think SS is totally due to my generation when most that I know never wanted to pay into it to begin with. We/you have to. Sucks out loud. Life sucks sometimes.

Financially, we are fine due to saving and investing outside of Social Security. I suggest you do the same. Physical health is what is my limiting factor now and will be until I die.

I don’t have a problem with how you saved for retirement.

The only view in any of your financial posts that I have issue with was your “I paid into SS and I deserve the money” post from earlier.

It will not be there in 30 years, either out of running out of funding or they won’t distribute it to those above a certain earning limit.

It is expected to be depleted by 2032 already.

I basically do you simpleton. Damn, did you go to an online med school diploma mill or something!

I reinvest it, let it make more money; then give them even more than I took out. What is your problem with that?

Welfare needs to be in the hands of churches, not govt.

Comments like that tell you pretty much all you need to know about the poster who says them.

They have been crying about SS running out of money for as long as they have been predicting the imminent Ice Age due to climate change nonsense.

I didn’t “plan” on it either and saved accordingly. Are you suggesting that I shouldn’t use my SS for my kids and grandkids and just donate it to the ignorant masses. Scruffy needs to take a gummy and calm down.

This is a fun conversation though.

It is the best shitty option in the long list of shitty options, I guess.
