Ala, short story is he got a transplant at 2 and I was the donor. His disease took that kidney out 8 months later.

He was ineligible for transplant after that until a new drug was developed that keeps his disease from doing the harm to his body.

He got put on a pediatric list and was on it for about 6 years but didn’t get a match.

When he transitioned to adult care, he was having trouble with complications that eventually caused his removal from the list. Easier this year he had some surgery that fixed those complications and he got worked up again to go on the list.

He went on it active Thursday with a 20 year wait time built up since that’s his time of full time loss of kidney function. So with that he went straight to the top of the list and suddenly it all happened.

I don't know you, but I'm happy for you. My nephew has a liver transplant not even a year ago, so I know what a weight this is off yall shoulders.

Congrats for your family and your son! I know first hand how tough on a family and individual that can be. My sister has had two transplants in her 27 years as the first one wasn’t viable due to at the time unforeseen complications. She’s been on dialysis for about half her life in total and last year received a new kidney. I’m sure he’ll be grateful and I hope he gets to do and see the things he’s always wanted to but couldn’t. Donors truly are angels.
