That wpuld work well like the book depot that people can take qnd drop off for children. Kids could drop off a car and get a different one

Pretty much what they do. They have the every day kids that change them out, then the one timers that take. Have definitely had cars show up that I didnt put in. Live on a somewhat busy street, so losing 20 in a day is part of the deal. Proabably lose up to 100 a month out there.

Love the 2-3 year olds picking out their favorite. But also, nothing beats a dad redirecting their kid to the box because they walked past. The dads want to grab one themselves, but have too much restraint.

(Totally built it to keep kids into cars)

I've bought/sold/traded a bunch of Western Auto stuff over the years. I have a friend/customer whose grandad ran a WA when he was a boy. He got older and started buying up WA stuff. He has put together an almost perfect 1950s/60s era WA hardware type store in a building he built on his place. Pretty cool.

Ha, I don't need anything nice. I am all about the sifted through and 2nds. Just have all their wheels. Made a little garage to hand them out for free so don't care for anything specific

You should look into Hot Wheels/die cast clubs in your area. Most chapters have shows/sales once or twice a year. I've seen boxes with thousands in them with so many for $1 and such.

Now one thing you could also do in your free box, is Happy Meal toys. I see a ton of these types of toys at many garage sales

Thanks. Will look into that. Maybe I can pipeline them to the kids to get them hooked.

Those shows are usually pretty cool. If you have kids or grandkids into Hot Wheels it is definitely worth taking them to. Some of them set up tracks and stuff and have door prizes. You'd see everything from 5 for $1 to $5k toy cars.

Because it’s very easy to see what my gross profit was via ebay. I can’t hide that.

What do estate sales do with stuff that doesn't sale? Do they just dump it at goodwill?

Do you search goodwill for finds also?

And how am I bragging if I haven’t sold them yet. I always just show what I bought and amount I paid. Every once in a while, I’ll do a follow up thread on what things sold for, especially when it’s something people said I was stupid for buying, and it made me $100’s. That’s my brag thread.

I think they usually sell it cheap to a reseller (antique booth owner) or something like that.

I RARELY go to thrift stores, they just don’t interest me. There’s no hunt in it for me. I know some resellers in BR that do this for a living. They hit every thrift store almost everyday. That just gotta suck.

I spent $12 total today. Kenilworth had a neighborhood wide sale today, but it has sucked the last couple years, the same this year. As for the challenge, I’ve kind of gotten burnt out on my hobby the last few months. Covid kind of spoiled me. During those two years, I probably made $80K off my hobby. To make my hobby fun again, I’ve decided to see how quickly I can turn $1 into $1000. I will use the Western Auto needle kits as my start, since I paid $1 for them. I will take only the profit I make off these to my next garage sell, flip those for profit, etc, until I break $1000.

I hope you find your beans
