good luck. my 6 month old $9k dollar rheem unit destroyed my house. installer blamed rheem, rheem said they don't warranty equip. so now I have a $12k trane unit in my ruined house and a big ol lawsuit going on.

go get a lawyer and get a different ac unit in your house. you will only get screwed deeper. at least that is what happened to me.

yes I did. I can't talk about it further because it's all tied up in court right now. spending last summer with no ac was not fun.

First guess would be the drain in the attic wasn't installed correctly and it flooded the house, but that wouldn't be cause to replace the unit.

Second guess is something caused an electrical issue that ruined some wiring, up to causing a fire.

If it’s a Goodman with an ecm motor, request a psc motor.

I had a horrible experience with a 3 ton Trane 16 merv compressor dying after 9-months, was told every unit produced that cycle failed. The internal electronic gas valve in the new furnace was found to be leaking after the 9th time the installer company came out for gas odor, etc. So they replaced the entire furnace. Install was in the attic, the company sucked although it had a good rep. Had to get a guy a normally use (who had been in a motorcycle accident and couldn't do physical work for almost a year) come out and re-hang the unit and add an electric condensation pump, etc. There was a lot on the original installer and Trane components lack of quality and that damn furnace could have blown up the house, both parties fricked things up. Meanwhile the 2.5 ton Goodman downstairs, which is like 16 years old now, keeps running like a champ. I was told there are basically 2 companies manufacturing all the HVAC units now, so it is a crap shoot as to how things will come out on new units no matter the brand.
