This is probably the product of illiterate parents who can’t spell or read. It’s embarrassingly common. They can’t spell the name on the birth certificate the way that it sounds in their head.

Lucifer is a bad name for a boy because the kids will call him Lucy.
It's not a bad name for a girl, though. Lucy is a good nickname for a girl named Lucifer.

While Lucifer essentially means angel of light, Satan means accuser, FYI.
