Unless some completely new field of employment opens up, we will have no choice except to have some form of UBI.
frick all that. We're paying 21 year old police recruits $80K while they go to the academy and a 5-year officer tops out at over $100K with no rank......and we STILL can't get some of these lazy, entitled kids to come test. There's work out there to be had.

You aren't getting UBI because you refuse to adapt. Yes it will do a lot of meaningless jobs like your's, but it will open up more opportunities, too.

"There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." Ken Olsen, computer pioneer, made this statement in 1977.
Truth is, it is a fools errand to try and predict where any of these technologies will take us.
Every household might have 3 robots taking care of every imaginable task.
This AI hype could all fizzle out without much disruption ala the ATM or the microwave oven.
Being adaptable is what sets us apart from the rest of gods creatures. Be adaptable.

but the entire field of analytics, no matter the industry, is quickly being absorbed by AI.
It’s interesting. Over the long weekend I was trying to think about my next live with AI. I’m in M&A and there is a lot that I leveraged AI for and as I was thinking I wondered if it will be completely AI before I retire.
I know the entry level people in my industry are going to be screwed soon. AI can do the analysis and other items much faster than they can. They won’t be in the field for long. The lower level jobs are more at risk than I am I believe.

ridiculous; almost don't even have to double-check what it spits out no matter how crazy my request is.

Eh, you just got to listen to the right people. Arthur C. Clarke makes this guy look a fool, and three years before he even made his quote.

My GP is indian and I work with several. My GP is great.
There's a difference between the ones that went to secondary school/university here, and the H1Bs and their children.
I'll take a Gujarati running a convenience store in BFE, Texas, over 5 out of the 6 H1Bs that are sitting in cubes around me for the communication skills alone. As the H1Bs have stuffed more kids into elementary and secondary schools (the national Junior Honor society induction at my middle school was over 60% Indian), it remains to be seen whether their kids will assimilate. I have concern that there's now such a critical mass of their culture in places (Sugarland, Katy, a lot of spots in DFW) that they're going to miss the memo that no Americans understand what "revert to same" means, or what "minutes of meeting" are, rather than "meeting minutes."
