This does cure the problem too.

I cannot stand places that try to be "funny" with the doors. Some will like match the theme and have foreign names for genders, which is confusing.
I was once asked by a date if she was a banos or telefonos.

Also, if you have problems peeing in front of girls, you might want to get that checked out

I know people who have "performance anxiety" even if it is in a line of urinals with nothing but guys there. If I have to piss, I can pretty much go anywhere. I like my solitude for taking a dump though. Luckily, I have my own bathroom at work. If I was single, I'd buy about one four-pack of toilet paper a year for home.

When there are three bathrooms (M/W/both), I have found that guys stick to the men's, and women use both

That's because both men and women know that the women's room is the most foul, disgusting place in the building.

So I didn't lock the door or anything because I was confused and I couldn't help wonder how I would defuse the awkwardness if some old lady or young girl walk in while I was peeing at the urinal.

Luckily it was early in the morning and no one else was in the shop, but man, I shouldn't have to worry about this kind of thing just to piss.

Don't go there anymore and tell them the reason. What if a lady wants to in there and let one rip in the stall but she sees you walking in behind her? It's uncomfortable for all. I wouldn't want a woman in there when I'm taking a dump.

I've said this several times but the end game for this isn't 3 bathrooms at every place - men, women, undefined. It is nothing but rows of individual undefined stalls.

Say goodbye to short bathroom lines at bars while the women are queued up.

Do what you want. I'm not gonna piss in there while a chick is spraying coffee bombs all over the bowl. She's gonna see my peen as soon as she tries.

FTR, most people don't want those bathrooms. It's only the 0.0001% of idiots that do, and the weak politicians who are too scared to oppose them

The setup of the restroom is weird, but if there is a lock available to me, I'm using it. One could possibly interpret one toilet and one urinal as a single-person... at least as a female I think many of us would assume that. A place to poop and a place to pee.. not a place for two people. That's how the setup would have registered for me

It's also bathroom design. If you can be seen from the outside at the urinal while peeing and there's a lock it's a one person bathroom.

No, the setup of the restroom you went in.

I've seen it before in single-person restrooms, but yeah it is weird and uncommon and I've only seen it once. As a female, I would have immediately interpreted that as a single-person restroom. Maybe it is because I don't have a use for a urinal, whereas you use both the toilet and the urinal as a male so you interpreted it as a space for 2 people I have no idea what is actually is intended for though.

This is why the trannys have championed this cause. They've experienced the girl line at the Madonna concert. Their prog friends are just sucked in because it's cool to stick it to the man and kick common sense in the nuts.
