Sorry for your loss. The worst thing in the world is having to say good bye to your furry one and once they're gone, no matter how long life goes for you, doesn't make it any easier. They are family no question. I've done it twice now and it sucks. Dogs are the best.

Once you grieve, getting another dog is always good. Haven't done so yet but I'll need to rescue one soon.

Yesterday at 1am my 8 yr old lab got hit by a car. He didn't die right then but luckily the person who hit her called the sheriff and they came out to look to make sure it wasn't a person who they hit. They found my dog trying to make her way back to the doggie door or to safety. I'm grateful that they rang our doorbell and woke us up. Her injuries were severe with her whole back half paralyzed and major internal bleeding coming out of her nose and eyes. I woke up the family and called my kid at college and we all sat with her giving her comfort for about 5 minutes with my kid on speakerphone.

Then I had to end her pain and put her down. There way no way I was going to get a 60lb lab into my truck without making her suffer much more for the same outcome. I hope to never have to put down another pet. It was awful in every way. We're all in shock and grieving her death. The worst part is coming home from work to a quiet house. She was the best dog I've ever had and she was family with my kids growing up around her most of their impactful life. I have no idea when I'll be able to think about her without getting choked up and in pain.

She has been on a wireless fence for most of her life. She has always respected the boundary as far as I knew. Even when the batteries failed, she would respect it. That day she never let on that anything was different or that she could get out of her fence, nor did I see her collar blinking. And yet it happened. Zero explanation other than it just happened. She had horrible hip problems and was aging much worse/faster, so at least she's not in pain anymore. I'm sorry for everyone's loss. It's an awful thing.

Our goldfish died too about 6 months ago.
We were all so broke up about It, I too can also just now form the words.

Even though he was only with us for couple weeks if was heartbreaking.
If those dumbass kids would have just fed the fish, he’d still be here.
Swimming. Gazing at us through his fish bowl.

We never named the fish, but good god do we miss him, or her.

Rip fish.
Wished I’d taken pics. We’d at least had that to cherish.

What a gorgeous dog! I am so sorry to hear this. Pet owners truly understand how they get to be one of your family members. I am glad you can talk about it now.

You had a wonderful relationship with your doggie friend. You’ve mourned him for a year, you can never replace him but I think it’s ok to have another good friend. Good luck and thanks for sharing your sweet story.

What a wonderful pupper! Sixteen years is a good life, and by all indications he was living a very good life with you. Dogs are God's four-legged angels for sure.

Sunday will mark one year since our sixteen-year-old Boudreaux departed this world. We had lost Maggie in May of last year (twelve-year-old beagle/rott mix) and losing Boudreaux was the double whammy. I spoke with my brother a few minutes before the time came and he had an idea that Boudreaux seemed to enjoy very much, despite his suffering and difficulties. Boudreaux finally got to enjoy the taste of chocolate with no fear of any of the medical difficulties it may bring. He took a bite, wagged his tail slightly, then licked my wife's hand and crossed the rainbow bridge.

I know it's hard, even a year later, to spend the time to dwell on those wonderful years only to realize they are gone. Know my thoughts and my heart are with you and turn to Louis XIV now that you have introduced him to us. That place in your heart that loves him will never cease to grow.

So the response is a picture of a murder of an innocent human? You need counseling or more life experience. If losing a dog is morally equivalent to murder, our future is in great hands with your lot.

It’s legal to murder your own baby.
