You're not even alpha enough to make a lab/daschungde mix respect you?

It sounds like your dog has a case of resource guarding. He is guarding either your wife or the bed. This can be a hard habit to break. There are several levels of guarding and charging and biting is on of the worst. The good news is you have a smaller dog and with training you can probably curb the habit. I have had a dog with similar habits and while I have it fully managed it never truly goes away. You might be able to break the habit from ever happening to you but the real problem is breaking the habit with strangers. A stranger wont know what to look for and its amazing how many people cant recognize an angry pissed off dog. Step one would be take the dog out of the bed until this is fixed and get him some training. Beating the shite out of him may break him from biting you but it wont break him from biting someone else. I struggled with getting rid of my dog but ultimately pumped a bunch of money into training an it made a big change. I do always have to worry around strangers though. A certified trainer can determine how big of a deal it is. It might be in the early stages and can be completely fixed.

I have an 8 and a half week old Great Pyranees puppy. He started eating his own poop a couple nights ago

He also rolls in his own poop and piss.

Put that dog down. There are too many dogs that aren't aggressive that need homes to frick around with a dog that wants to bite.

Next time the dog growles at you PUNCH him square in the ribs. He's not afraid of you. He should be.

Dont slap him, dont kick him, dont hit him. PUNCH him square in the ribs. Knock the wind out of him. If he reacts defiantly, kick him square in the jaw. Do this untill you are perceived as the alpha.

You do realize that this doesn't solve the problem, right? I mean, it'll make the dog stop biting you, but it doesn't solve the bigger problem.

Make sure you didn't catch rabies and kill the dog.

WTF??

If you didn't beat that dogs arse you might as well get rid of it because you just ruined that dog.

I don't feel sorry for you, but you're his bitch now because you let yourself be. Be an alpha, beat his arse, put it outside, and tell your wife no more fricking the dog.

My Aussie would bite any intruder who came in the house or into my car, or anyone who tried to jump on me. She's been tested twice. Once, someone who didn't listen (don't come in until I secure the dog) stuck her knee in and got a little warning nip that didn't break the skin (herding dogs use nips to communicate with animals they are herding).

The second was some meth head at the railroad area, some psycho who was yelling and waving a stick talking about kicking my arse. Dog was out looking for copperheads, heard the guy, and jumped his arse. He took a few bites and took off. Cops never found him.

These are appropriate bites. Biting your owner is an inappropriate bite and in the circumstances you describe is inexcusable.

I have never had a dog of mine ever bite me ,and it is apparent your dog thinks he is the alpha. Stop letting him in the bed and the couch and start training/retraining ,because y'all are too loose with him. Though I don't usually recommended hitting your dog in that instance if he bit you and broke the skin you needed to come down hard on him and beat his arse to let him know without a doubt you are in charge.

I really love dogs but I would not have one that growls at or bites me. If a dog bites me he's got to go.

This problem will rear its ugly head when/if you have children... no matter how you do it, take care of it now

Also, you wouldn't have this problem if you had a purebred boxer, just sayin
