My dad had a quad 15 years ago (maybe Gray Tiger is my dad?) and he did fine. They caught it before he had a heart attack. Then in 2019 he had a heart attack. I got the call that he was having chest pains and rushed to his house to pick him up. He coded while they were working on him, but they brought him back. He only needed a stent that time but he said the broken ribs from CPR was the worst part.

What made me feel better was actually a friend reassuring me that these doctors do this stuff all day every day. He's in good hands.

My dad had 5 bypasses getting close to 25 years ago now. He was young but late 60s now, in better shape than most men his age. Still hunts, takes care of his 5 acres, stays active. He had a heart attack again around 10 years ago and a stint was either put in or replaced I can’t remember. Heart surgery has come a long way since then

Prayers said for him and the family.

I had two bypasses and a heart valve replaced, over 12 years back, then pacemaker later on. The help I can offer, in addition to prayers is to say the doctors who do this stuff do multiple cases every day, and they are very good at it. Praying for successful surgery and no complications.

By the way, it took them almost 12 hours to wake me up. I have no memories of the first 24 hours, but I woke up feeling much better if I overlook the surgical pain.

As for today, I am a lot stronger than the months before surgery.

Is he with Jackson Heart? They are really good doctors. As side comment, they have the longest hallway of any doctor's group I have ever visited. I think (using their words) it is plumbers on one end and electricians on the other end.

If that's true, then that's terrible.

If that's not true, then YOU'RE terrible.

Technically a CABG is not an “open heart”...

But good luck to him, he’ll be fine..
