Been there man.
My bf passed five years ago - 1/11/15
He would’ve been with us this past weekend in Atlanta. We talked about that the whole trip.

34 had cancer. We met freshman year of highschool just made 20 years of friendship in September. Life brought us in different directions but always back to each other. We'd pick up right where we left off. Biggest who dat fan. One of his other buddies was a Pat's fan and while in the hospital we were talking football while he was resting and he wakes up from a dead sleep and says "but you know Brady cheated" then passed out again
That's what I'll always remember the guy who was there for me when I needed him even though maybe we didn't speak for a few months. Gonna suck not getting a text back when I text him Who Dat. My kids will know who he was though. One of the best men I've ever known.
RIP Vic I love you bro forever.
Same situation for me back in early October. Was out of the country on a guy's trip in South America when I found out he passed back home. No advance warning. Left three kids and a wife. Had drifted but when we talked it was like I had just left his house. Huge LSU & Saints Fan.
Wrote his eulogy on an international flight back home. The broad beside me was like, "WTF," until I think she saw what I was typing. Had tears streaming down my grill for four hours straight.
We stood in each other's weddings. The thing that strikes me as so surreal is that I gave a best man speech and a eulogy for the same person, less than 15 years apart. For a man who died before the age of 40. Not sure if I did him justice or not. But I know I tried.
Cherish the fact that you got time with him at the end and were able to comfort him as he neared the end. I didn't get that opportunity. I'm not sure I'll ever get over not saying goodbye to him.

So sorry to hear man. I lost a good friend of mine last month to HLH. He was only 28 and so full of life. Was the biggest and best LSU fan I had ever met. Things will never be the same without him.
The grieving process has been a tough one for me. I've finally accepted it and have started to heal. But the void will always be there. Hope you find peace through your family and friends during this tough time.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I HATE cancer. Pancreatic took my step-Father 10 yrs ago. Not a day goes by, I don't miss him. If I had to do it again, I would've liked to go into cellular medicine or genetics since cancer is a metabolistic disease of the mitochondria. Too many lives are cut short. On the positive side, it sounds like you had a "real" friend you could talk to and count on. That seems to be a rare thing these days.

That sucks man. I'll pour one out for your your friend.
To the rest of you hug your Dad your mom, hug your granny, hug your friend, hug your wife. If you aren't a hugger a handshake will do. When you see a friend shake their hand. It might be the last time you get to do so and it means much more than waving goodbye, and you won't realize it until it is too late.

Lost my best friend at 50 to a massive heart attack. We’d known each other since we were about 5 years old. Close through school and were even roommates at LSU for three semesters. Went our separate ways but always in touch as we went through adult life and still always picked up right where we left off. Both went through painful divorces and hardships, there for each other long distance when times got tough.
Remember those long held friendships and treasure them while you can. Give them a call or drop them a text or email to let them know you’re still around and thinking about them. You don’t know how much you’ll miss busting balls, retelling old stories or helping them/ getting their advice when times are tough until they’re gone for good.

Life is fricked up man. See way too many people in their 30s and 40s with young families dying of cancer in the hospital, while miserable old bastards in their 80s who smoked for 50 years go home after a few days.
RIP to your buddy, great friends are a true treasure.

What kind of cancer?

Sucks man. My best friend committed suicide in 2009. Still never got over it. He’s why I root for the rebels except when they play LSU. Every Saturday I always wonder what he thinks of coach O taking LSU this far. Prayers for his family and you. Time will ease but never erase the pain.
