So, we would be still be paying teachers to teach but we would also now be paying these childcare sitters. Instead of just the teachers?

Yes! More educated, progressive places are employing these exact same policies. Get with the times.

What about our front line workers at Kroger, Sonic, USPS, FedEx, Specs, Target, and our gas stations? Are their lives just expendable?

Oh, I am. We should let them draw actual unemployment while childcare providers (who have worked throughout the pandemic) and willing tutors provide the services those uncomfortable, or unwilling, teachers are not doing.

I've been having this same debate with some folks. Madison is doing just this at community center gyms. Complete with tutors.

Teachers should make their own choice. If they are concerned resign or take a leave of absence. But don’t expect to get paid.

Yep. I have over 100 days of accrued leave built up. If I were truly concerned, I may consider taking some of those. I can say with relative certainty that 90% or more of teachers who claim to be concerned that things aren’t safe don’t have any days built up. It goes hand in hand.

Have you noticed that the “hardest most grueling professions” that require the most devotion and love happen to be dominated by women?

Sure it’s just a cowinky dink

Hell no.
You have a job.
You choose not to do it.
Tough shite.
No unemployment.

Very inspired and well-written post. We need more content like this on this board.

Thanks for taking the time.

Hmm what is the common denominator shared between the majority of employees in these two professions?

Lockdowns don’t work
They just delay the inevitable. Go look at the numbers for Japan and Australia right now
Compare them to NY and Sweden. LA, Texas,Florida, and Arizona are on their way to burn out also. Can’t hide from the virus
