“Ask your mother” is the appropriate response here

It's not blue. Just darker. I don't know why in elementary science we were taught it was blue. It's iron not oxygen that gives blood It's red color.

Ummmm. Blue Blood people are not a myth. Check out the Fugates in Kentucky. I have no idea how to provide a link.

This isn't even remotely true.

Yes, but for some reason elementary teachers think it is true and like to teach our kids that it is.

There are medical conditions where someone’s face can appear blue, but I’ve never heard of someone actually having blue blood pumping through their veins

So you are teaching your kid incorrect information so he looks like an idiot when he grows up?

Methemoglobinemia is a blood condition, not a skin condition. It has nothing to do with melanin, the amino acid that gives people darker skin tones. In people with methemoglobinemia, the skin appears blue because the veins beneath the skin are coursing with dark blue blood.

ETA: not trying to be a smart arse , but found this on “How stuff Works” web site.

Think of blood as dark red and bright red.

Venous blood (which you are falsely calling blue) still has oxygen in it.

I'm pretty sure that in the vacuum of space your blood would boil - who cares about the color of the blood at that point.

It's actually pretty much the kind of stupid question I would expect from a 7 year old - he completely missed the bigger picture and concepts. If it stumped you - it's because you were giving the kid way too much credit. OP should have just looked the kid in the eye and said "son, that is the dumbest thing anyone has said to me in a very long time".

Blue skin not blue blood.

If you read the article on how stuff works you’ll see it states the reason for the blue skin is because of deep blue blood coursing thru the veins.

Either this is one of the best underhanded trolls ever, or the OP is an idiot.

And I can’t tell which one is right.
