Best S550 packages were the Mach1 and performance package 2, the Mach 1 has a TREMEC transmission or I would give the nod to the PP2. The TREMEC with a 5.0 should be how mustangs come, I am not talking about special editions, you should be able to get a base with 5.0, tremec but you have to spend big money to get the best drivetrain outside of special editions.
The Mustang is a blast to drive and is comfortable while doing it. Handles well and for a while was a great $$ per fun vehicle, I wouldn't touch one at todays prices but you are looking for a used car, so maybe there are some deals out there. I sold my last Mustang used for more than it was new but that was COVID times, no idea what the market is like right now on them but vehicles have been dropping in price so maybe they are too.

Currently have a 2021 GT500. 760hp 5.2L supercharged V8 with the Tremec 7-speed DCT. Also previously owned a 2015 GT and 2011 GT. Can’t go wrong with any Mustang GT or higher trim. Just be aware that the new 2024s aren’t tunable yet and may not be for a while. There is a Ford Performance supercharger kit by Whipple, however, with 800hp for the ‘24s that comes with a 3 year 36k warranty.
The problem with Challengers is that they’re a one trick pony. Go fast in a straight line. They handle like crap in the twisties and the interiors are dated. They also tend to get stolen a lot more than the Mustang or Camaro. Believe they are one of the most stolen vehicles year after year. There’s plenty of YouTube videos about this.

One has a far reliable transmission.

I drove both and wound up with a Camaro. In a straight line that Challenger is badass. But handling around turns, it could not even compete with the Camaro.
The Mustang was not bad. Maybe a 1/4 link quicker than the Camaro but that was a test drive. I didn’t like how the gears shifted - really clunky. But I have to say the Mustang is a good cross between rapid acceleration and handling.
I went head to head in the Camaro with a Rousch Fenway GT and he’s still scratching his head how that Camaro smoked his arse. The Camaro can literally turn 300 degree turn at 90 with 1 finger. Neither Dodge nor Ford have a product that will do that. I did buy a Mustang but I gave it to my daughter because, after all, it’s a chick car.

We know, you ride your electric moped to your shift at starbucks. Either that or your unicorn whilst your moped is draining the power grid during charging.

I’m confuse. You said some pretty strong negative things about it, then praised it pretty highly.

A 2017 Mustang California Special is one of the best looking trim models and they're only $20kish

People can talk shite all day long about Mustangs, but my ‘21 Mach 1 was a beast on and off the track. Took me 3 track days in my ‘23 Vette Z51 to beat my lap times in the Mach 1. I kinda miss that ‘Stang.

Mustang GT, without a doubt.
It's one of the few things Ford still gets right.

For anybody in-the-know, what year did Ford apply the Auto Stop/Start to them? Thanks.

Idk but it can be permanently disabled with an aftermarket tune. Which you’ll need after you install a couple turbos or blower anyway.
