Why do you keep saying this while ignoring that they are currently reviewing these programs?

Well someone is lying because your link says these are all new hires in a probation period.

Basically all those jobs Joe Biden created were government jobs. All we did was expand the federal government.

Musk isn't doing anything.

He and DOGE are conducting audits and making recommendations. Trump (directly or through department/agency heads) is taking the actions.

The only other time in modern American history (post 1930s) that there was any sizeable reduction in the federal workforce was in the mid 1990s, when the Clinton admin reduced the size of the federal workforce by 17%. What happened next was economic expansion and balanced budgets.

Lived it. Had just joined the Air Force in the early 90's and lot of people left where i worked. Basically had to pick up the slack for the ones that left and take on their workload but we survived. I suspect the same thing will happen here.

Reviewing for what? Cutting payments or cutting the workforce because the expenditures are vastly vastly different between the two. And since my understanding is Trump doesn’t have the authority to EO cuts to payments I’m assuming it’s to the workforce keeping it running which is nothing at all as a percentage of the total.

Probationary employees don’t have property rights like classified employees.

Anytime there is a reduction in the work force, they will always be the first ones out.

Reviewing for what?

Don't you think it'd be a better idea to do some research and figure that out before posting?

Or better yet wait and see what actually happens?

They've cut nearly $100B in less than 2 months which doesn't even include those large buckets. Could you imagine if the fed Gov't operated with this level of scrutiny consistently? We most likely wouldn't be in this mess.

Instead they've spent with reckless abandon and treat your taxpayer money like a drug addict finding money on the ground, and they've done it for so long you've become numb to it. That's depressing.

s there a difference between a Park Ranger and an Educational Park Ranger? Sounds like a waste of money if so.

Yes there are resource education rangers and law enforcement rangers who carry the guns and write tickets. Resource Ed is the public facing rangers you see every day. Then there are Preventative Search and Rescue rangers who haul out dead bodies or find people who get lost or fall and break bones etc and resource education rangers assist with that.

The National Park Service also rescinded job offers to seasonal workers. The hiring freeze and layoffs have left parks understaffed, forcing them to make difficult decisions about operating hours, public safety, and resource protection.

The seasonal rangers and the visitor facing staff in parks are not the problem it is probably the bodies at the actual DOI building. The gift shops and restaurants are run by contracted concessionaires or a 50c3 “friends” group no federal money is used. The funds from gift shops actually pays salaries for rangers and buys needed trail rehab, trail maps and uniforms.

You want them to say what the fraud and waste is before they actually find out what the fraud and waste is?

This makes no sense. One, there's no passing because this stuff isn't law, it's bureaucracy operating under control of the executive branch. Two, do you operate under the assumption that audits are not a form of due diligence? Three, if they end up firing too many people, they can always rehire, this isn't exactly rocket science and happens in the private world. If Congress thinks these jobs are that important, than maybe they should get off their asses and do their jobs.
