dude is a hard arse despite his OxyContin nods and Methodone eye rolls. Still very much a bad dude who strangely reminds me of Frank in The Departed — well the coon arse version. Clearly, he was working with the police and still getting to make his money and direct things In his way.

Nope Jennings followed by Ferriday. Opelousas might as well be a cultural epicenter.

Here's somebody that knows whats up
I took the wife on a tour today, havent been back in years. Drove down to behind lil' Catholic church, around West End and showed her the area. Pretty sure we rolled up on some commerce happening right in the middle of the street.
it's so much worse than I remember

Here’s a little something about the two motels that were talked about in the book and the documentaries. If only those walls could talk...
The Budget Inn in Jennings is having a great year with near capacity since the hurricane. Before that, there’d only be 3 or 4 cars in the parking lot. I’d often wonder how they could still operate. Whoever does own this motel is pretty good with plants. He usually has 10-12 pots full of tomatoes growing in the summer as well as a few rose bushes he maintains
Boudreaux Inn has been closed down for a long time but still has a firework stand that pops up in front of it every July and December.

I’ve never seen a town so separated by the railroad tracks.

Come on man. There’s great night life at Walmart. Plus we’ve got a KFC, a Shoney’s, and car shows at the I10 park. In all seriousness though, Jennings doesn’t have much going for her. The population has decreased over the last 10 years probably due to job opportunities. Most working folk either commute to Lake Chuck or Laffy. If not, you’re stuck working a fast food chain or the dollar store.

Good dude, but I doubt his sister in law is dating this one.
I'm sure most of these were probably overdosed accidents that were not properly reported (dumped because they were scared).

So embarrassed to be from this city. Went to high school there. Graduated in '01. Couldn't get outta that city fast enough. Never looked back. Drugs run rampant and the police are all connected to it.

Well, north of the tracks isn't what it used to be either. Jennings is about as trashy as the average south Louisiana town. People calling it the trashiest are being unduly influenced by these documentaries.

Crowley, Rayne and Abbeville are all interchangeable with Jennings
Abbeville and Rayne are better than Jennings. Crowley was too before the Geaux Cup closed down. Now there’re pretty much the same.
The Jennings Popeyes is one of the better ones in Louisiana in regards to food quality, but the customer service ranks towards the bottom, which means it’s downright awful.

He had events alright.....drugs and local crack-whores that were ran by Martin Guillory and Frankie Richard. How else would 8 murders go unsolved after multiple documentaries, books, private investigations and even a Federal Task force? Real life True Detective stuff involving state politics and local cops and enforcers.

Makes sense. I’ve been to a lot of the shitty areas in Acadiana, on the wrong side of the tracks in Jennings was the only time the natives became restless. Never was messed with, even in Ile de Crime.

The documentary highlighted the worst of the worst in Jennings. It’s trashy but not much different than what you find in small towns across South Louisiana.
