It was weird that he didn’t shoot the people in the yellow car at the beginning.

leaving two bodies on the street before entering the main kill zone would have vastly increased his chances of the cops preventing his escape

And also alerted those in the mosque. There were three or four people at the entrance that may have been able to sound a warning had he opened fire before approaching.

Yeah but with most people having cell phones I would think they called police immediately. I think the police took entirely too long if a call was made at that point.

This is what I thought. Why shoot two and alarm the larger group. He knew what he was doing.

He swept through the building pretty quickly, doesnt look like anyone had time to make the call as they were more concerned with getting the hell outta there

A few things that stood out.

First was the lack of situational awareness by the locals. A man who is both armed and clothed in military type attire is walking towards a mosque and you don't run as fast as possible away and call police IMMEDIATELY once he passes by and doesn't shoot?

Also, it is rather obvious these people know nothing of how to react to gun violence and how to act during a shooting.

Last, where the hell is the police? He had over 6 minutes to blast away. This is New Zealand. It isn't like they have a large swath if area to cover and patrol.

They were not prepared for this type violence whatsoever from the people to the police.

The woman shot in the street went TO THE SHOOTING.

Just total lack of sense.

Tell us more about how, in hindsight, you think they should’ve reacted

Not sure this is the case.

Could be, but I think it's just one guy.

1 of the 3 others arrested I believe just had a gun and may have been trying to stop him? They say he may not be connected.

That would leave two others with unknown connections (if any) and one being a girl?

probably had family in the mosque. Would you have run away if your family was in church and you heard gunfire?

Slackster, you must have severe paranoia and maybe even schizophrenia if you truly think the people you live around want to murder Muslims in mosques.

That's not what I said. I said his manifesto wouldn't raise a red flag on the PT, because it wouldn't. Everything he said I've read on that board. That doesn't mean everyone on the PT is about to shoot up mosques.

The comments in that thread are concerning. I know these groups are small. But internet radicalization is real. Scary stuff.

Man, Christchurch does not need this (not that any place does). We were there in 2014 and the devastation from the earthquake was massive. They said it will take 30+ years to rebuild the city.
