Would be so sad is some of those impacted weren’t carrying insurance. Would hate to see it.

Yeah, I guess they wanted to make it look like a really bad wreck.

Yeah I'm a 2.5-3 car link guy and these assholes make me have to speed up and tailgate to avoid their idiotic swoop and squat.

Everyone talks about the bad drivers which is true but nobody talks about the condition of our interstate & highways these days. Some of them are in deplorable condition. The I-12 I have to hold my breath when Im on that thing. The 18 Wheelers are all over the place with very little space. The bridges look and feel horrible. Why can't we take care of our roads? Let me guess J.B.E. cut highway funding. So this is where we are now.

Fatality count has now been increased to 8.

At least 168 vehicles were now stated to be involved in the crash.

Makes no sense how we close down the Causeway and divert everything to a 70 mph bridge a couple miles away also over a body of water

What's the current status? Shut down in both directions still?

Should the government close roads because of fog?

I mean, the twin spans never close either.

Spitballing but the arches on the causeway for the boat passes seem to make fog driving even more dangerous

It's my understanding that fog develops where the cooler air meets the warmer air near the surface of the ground or water. Who knows?

One bridge has its on police force, which makes money for someone in Louisiana. The other bridges that go the same way, both ways, not so much.

No, but drivers should use common sense on the road. One thing that could be done is placing variable speed limit signs on the bridge similar to the I-10 bridge in Mobile. Also, road lighting could help with drivers being able to judge distances between lights to give drivers an idea on the visibility. Another visual aide would be maintaining road striping and reflectors so drivers could judge road conditions better.

One is a private roadway, the other is not.

We have got to have some of the worst striping/reflectors of anywhere in the nation. I've driven rural roadways in Michigan where they can't have the regular glued-on reflectors (because of snow plows), yet they somehow seem to have better markings than many of the roads in Louisiana.

I'm teaching my kiddo to drive right now, and he was freaking out on Coursey Blvd a few weeks back--it was damn near impossible to see the individual lane markings.

That’s a hell of a cop out, especially for one of the longest bridges in the world, that happens to be in Louisiana. Everyone with enough power in Louisiana has been getting a piece of that toll for quite some time.
