At that old terminal I could park at US Park and be standing at the gate in 15 minutes easily.

from walking in to the front entrance to sitting at my gate playing on my phone with some Cafe du Monde, 20 min tops

I am talking about from parking at US Park at the old terminal

Look the terminal itself is a food court with airplane gates but it functions. They will get the baggage belts to work one day.

The friggin roads are horrendous.

Why the hate on opening one terminal at the old building? Do you not want the airport to have room to grow??? Do you want the flying public to suffer just to say you are right?

Go cry about film tax credits or something on the political board.
The new terminal isnt perfect but still world class and much needed. This has already been debated on the OT.

But the case that is poorly designed and inferior in terms of service to the flying public of Louisiana gets stronger every day.

Go tell Mitch how great he is or whatever you do--maybe you can have beignets delivered while you are at it.

(World Class food court perhaps. )

Only problem I have is that they left rental cars at the fricking old airport. Took me 45 minutes from the time I got off the plane friday to be in a rental and I brought a carry on

Terrible take is terrible.

The new MSY is huge for LA. It’s first class, and super easy to deal with. Massive upgrade. Please post less.

We should renovate and open terminal B on the old building. (Give it to Southwest or Delta) We can then use airline highway the approach from Williams again. We can use the old parking lots easier. This would take a lot of traffic off of the inadequate roads at the new terminal.

C & D are adequate 21st century terminals, basically as is. Why not just bulldoze B (which they should have done and just rebuilt - keeping the airport basically as it was and maybe revamping the overall security setup), and use one of those?

There are more than a few people in New Orleans that profited from it's construction.
OMG the horror that a major construction project made some people money.

That is fine too.

It is foolish to spend hundreds of millions trying to make the new terminal work after screwing it up the design when we could spend less money by opening a "terminal 2" and have MUCH better service and MUCH more infrastructure to utilize.

Has less gates than the old terminal

BS for the local traveler. From the front door to the gate is close to the same as the old terminal---more places to eat for those that go to the airport to eat and want a bunch of choices. From the public roads to the front door it is a cluster.

NONETHELESS why tear down all of the old building when they could be utilized and the impact of the design flaws of the road system at the new terminal would be minimized?

I’ve never heard of so many mixed reviews about an airport. It’s not a movie or a restaurant. Why are the opinions of this new terminal all over the place?

I am guessing that the experience is based on what time you are at the airport. In Lafayette, there are some flights where there are only only 60 people in the airport. Then there are times when it is a struggle to exit the plane.

Denver is the same. Been there where the line to get through security was 2 hours and a couple of times I walked straight through.

I don't travel by air much but I am sure there are "rush hours" with times when several planes are departing or arriving around the same time.

It took us 10 minutes of waiting before we were "allowed" to cross from the terminal to get to the parking garage. Pickup of other passengers at a slow pace kept "police" from allowing us to cross.

It pretty much was a cluster as far as that goes.

Could it be because the vendors at Mitch’s Fly-In Food Court paid dearly for their spots and were promised that they would not have passengers diverted to another terminal regardless of how much that might impact travelers?

And we parked in the garage, went down elevator to first level as we would have with the old terminal. Walked into the front doors and the only signs we really saw were "All Gates" above the escalator.

Did we completely miss a sign that said luggage check 3rd floor (or second, whatever it was we didn't see it)

Went through new terminal Wednesday. From Interstate to parking and on to my gate maybe 30 minutes. I have TSA pre-ck and didn't check a bag plus it was a 8AM flight midweek. Stupid easy. Much easier than the old terminal. I was expecting worse. My one gripe was leaving the airport the roundabout isn't well designed going down to one lane to launch to the interstate direction. That should be corrected.

I was a 30 out 52 week traveler for last few years. I expected chaos based on reports but was pleasantly surprised. Airport looks great and on par with or better than others it's size.
