Starting May 8, Spirit Airlines will add a direct flight to Tegucigalpa, the largest city in Honduras. Spirit will fly to the location twice a week at 9:30 a.m.
"The New Orleans region has one of the largest populations of Hondurans outside of Honduras, and Spirit’s flights to San Pedro Sula have been performing well," the airport said in a statement.

Hopefully there will be a lot of one way trips down there.

It’ll be easier to send lawyers, guns and money!

Honestly, Roatan is a wonderful place. Quick hop from any airport to Roatan. Then a nice resort and dive/snorkel stay. Though i prefer Isla Mujeres and Carategna's area islands.

Roatan is swimming in cocaine. 10-15 USD a gram
At least that’s what I heard.

Wow! That’s the most unexciting announcement ever. Might as well add directs to Port Au Prince

Same for San Pedro Sula. Roatan has some nice spots but it is also third-worldish in places. Unless you are all about diving or snorkeling, there are many nicer places in the Caribbean.

And that might be the safest part of going to Honduras

Anyone remember when TACA (Take a chance Airlines) SAHSA (Stay at home stay alive) flew out of MSY to Central America ? I flew Aviateca from MSY to San Jose , Costa Rica. It was an adventure, to say the least. Stopped in Cancun, San Pedro Sula, San Jose, and Panama City. Recall the drink service started as soon as you sat down, and didn't stop until the plane landed, including taxiing.

Stay out of the tourist areas, ain’t nothing like being harassed in Roatan. The island is okay, but it isn’t anything special outside of pretty water, which a million places in the Caribbean have.

Also TACA was infamous for landing on a levee near New Orleans East in a hail storm that shut off its engines when the pilots thought it was a clearing in the weather. The thunderstorm exceeded the color palette of the plane’s radar.
