BTR flies direct to just about no where.

BR has direct flights to Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta. That's pretty much it.

New Orleans has direct flights to 60 locations.

if it’s full it’s full what do you want them to do about it? Parking at the new MSY is 10x easier than before...straight up the departures ramp and directly to the short term garage

Everything about that airport is a testament to diversity contracting, half arse planning and grift by one of New Orleans largest and wealthiest crime families- The Landrieus. frick you Mitch, frick you Mary and frick you Moon for your own felonious career and for siring those abominations. Not real mad, just want to give them their due.

Every day there’s a post about something in New Orleans that makes me thankful to live in Lafayette.

Terminal garages are "full" even though you can see spots from the street and cars are leaving.

Is the garage entrance blocked off from you going to see if there is an open spot?

I parked in the long term parking garage on the first level Friday morning with no problems

Yea I’m confused with this. I don’t think they block the entrance off if it’s full. You can drive around and look for an open spot.

I flew to Charlotte the other week from BTR.

It’s just not worth the time for me to go to MSY anymore. The new terminal is awesome, but I do burn more time at pre-check and with parking than before.

So I just fly out of BTR. I’ve been going to San Jose a lot and will be for the next year. American through DFW works very well. I love being less than 5 minutes from my car when I get back to Louisiana. And BTR has the most pleasant security lines ever.

I wouldn’t be upset if there were more non-stops out of BTR, but I wouldn’t want to see it get much busier. That would reduce its appeal and convenience factor to me.

Wrong. They had cones and a "security" person sitting in a chair in the middle of the street under an umbrella at the Short and Long Term entrances. That's the one that literally said "Lot Be Full" when I rolled my window down.

It was frustrating because you can see open spots and cars leaving.

So the lady at the southwest counter told me when I flew out to Atlanta that saints road games especially vs division opponents always gets the lots full from Friday evening to Sunday. She suggested us park.

US Park is so easy. I’m glad the masses haven’t caught on to it.

I've been in that garage where it can take you 10 minutes to find a spot. They don't want dozens and dozens of cars speeding around in there trying to beat other people to spots. It's not safe in a narrow garage like that.

They block it off once a certain number of spots are taken, and then the unblock it once a certain number of spots are available.

I have never even attempted to park at the airport. It's $6-12 a day right next to it at US park on Veterans. Then they shuttle you there. It's not on the other side of the airport like economy parking. You can go online and get the first time deal for $6 a day and just use a new email each time.
Covered was $12 a day.

I think it's $15 without discount online.

I quit flying out of NOLA out of protest. Their parking has made me miss 2 flights in the last 3 years. frick that shite. I'll fly out of BR and connect in Hou/Dal/Atl.

I didn’t do it because of parking, but agree. Stopped flying MSY a few years ago.

I actually have an appointment to get cleared for Global Entry next month, which can only be done at airports, and this thread is making me consider cancel. It would be nice to be able to bypass customs, but I don’t know that driving to New Orleans and parking offsite just for an interview session is worth it.

Yeah. How late are you that a $10 minute shuttle ride made you miss flights?
Econ parking sucks but it's not that far.

Again US park is the best option in my opinion. People say Uber. I'm shocked you don't have trouble getting such a short uber. I live in North Kenner and I've had 3-4 drivers cancel before because of how short the run is.

Never really got it either. I definitely prefer direct flights over not, but it has to be a really undesirable flight schedule from BTR for me to opt for MSY.

The value of skipping a layover really goes down when I'm factoring in parking annoyances (and cost), adding a couple of hours to my travel time/having to wake up so early, an hour drive home when exhausted from travel, etc.

I flew out of MSY yesterday and parked in the short term parking (as I usually do when flying) with zero issues. Not sure what all this bitching is about

Pretty sure if you are taking an Uber to or from the airport there is a fixed minimum price to make it worth the driver's time.
