MS gas stations - slot machines?

I stopped by a gas station a few minutes from my house here in downtown Brandon, MS and when I walked in I noticed two people sitting down playing at a slot machine. The clerk said that reps from the Mississippi Lottery installed them.

Local news usually covers anything lottery related because of how new it is in the state, but I haven’t seen or heard anything about it. I feel like this would be something that they would have discussed. Also, I can’t find an article anywhere online that says anything about it.

I know that the state has never allowed slot machines in gas stations, and I’ve seen multiple times where gas station owners have been arrested for running illegal gambling machines in their stores.

Does anyone know if this is a new thing for Mississippi? I’m just curious if this is legitimate. Thanks.

Video poker isn’t allowed in Mississippi gas stations either. I’m sorry, I should have clarified. No gambling machines of any kind are allowed in Mississippi gas stations that I know of unless it was recently passed and not reported on.

I think you are 100% correct, Cosmo.... My only thing is, why wouldn’t they announce it? If you’re generating a new revenue stream, it seems like you would want to promote, right?

let us know where these gas station bandits are located. We can stop and give some tax money on the way home to Louisiana. JonBell doesn't deserve our tax dollars.

They passed it a few months ago, it was announced but they really didn’t blast it out much

Maybe they’d rather just slowly have ppl notice them than deal with all the Mississippi Baptist’s throwing fits over gambling

It’s at the main intersection in Brandon, and the machines are against the front window. The gas station is maybe 400 yards from the Rankin County Detention Center. I don’t think they’re worried about anybody narcing on them, but cool insult dude.

Yeah. Drive down 190 to Shreveport from Baton Rouge and there are gas station casinos at every spotlight with video poker. I’m sure MS has the same problem.
