You seem to be under the mistaken impression that Mr. Rogers was or would be anti-trans. Or anti-anybody.

Yeah but that poster likes Mr. Rogers and doesn't like trans people, so it makes him feel comfortable to think that Mr. Rogers would disparage trans people

I contested the idea that his revision of the song to address a completely different thing is indicative that he'd revise it further to avoid hurting the feelings of the pro-trans crowd in the modern era, which is a claim I believe was insinuated in the thread.
He would absolutely revise it further, or stop singing it altogether, in today's social climate. If he wanted to assure children that they wouldn't have to change, as was his stated intent per his Carson interview, he would do it in a different way that couldn't be interpreted as transphobic. That's just who he was. Always accepting, always inclusive, always kind, and always sensitive. In a world where transgenderism is an issue, Mr. Rogers would certainly choose his words carefully, as he always did.

I don't think you understand the point of the OP at all and it went over your head entirely.
I don't think you understand.

You are simply mistaken in thinking such a beautiful message could not be taken in the entirely wrong way in today's society. It would be in an instant if he made that statement today
And you would be mistaken in thinking that Mr. Rogers would sing the same lyric in today's society. He was very sensitive to social issues, and there is zero chance he would choose those words today to convey the message he intended.

He would absolutely be canceled and you know exactly what that means. Not only would he be canceled, before being canceled he would be bludgeoned and bullied into apologizing, only to discover that an apology isn't enough. It never is.

He would be scrutinized and pilloried on every daytime talk show from the likes of The View, all the way to Oprah Winfrey.

Entire segments on CNN and MSNBC would be devoted to him and that little ditty for a panel of assholes to expose as hateful and transphobic, even though there's nothing hateful or transphobic about it.
Quite the little story you've contrived. Problem is Mr. Rogers was always a friend to marginalized folks, and none of that shite would have ever happened.

You you think Fred Rogers would yield to a destructive social contagion such as child transgenderism or change the lyrics of the song for the sake of socio-cultural fashion?

You think Fred Rogers would want to "fit in" like that?
He wouldn't do it to "fit in", he would do it because it was in his DNA to be sensitive to social issues and to be kind to everyone always.

So is this a deepfake?

I didn't know the idea of gender swapping was a big enough thing in the 80's to the point Mr. Rogers would have to sing a song about it.

OR...in a darker twist, he would bend the knee and go.

"Its okay children, if you feel like a boy or a girl, I love you all the same. These feelings are fine."

KNowing that he was in the public media system make me thinks he would have bent the knee.
