But asked:

Something does not add up.

Why would you go to Loyola if you’re moving back to Houston

You talking about the rona or the legs sticking out of the building?

joshjrn how is BR handling this at this point? Any overwhelmed hospitals? Asking out of pure curiosity and not snideness.

Really well, actually. Because we started distancing early, we stayed pre-exponential curve for longer than most. That allowed us to ramp up testing/supplies/capacity *before* we got to any real spike. I don't think Region II (which is what BR is in and serves) ever got above 50% capacity in ventilator use. We are currently at 74% ICU capacity, but we have falling numbers and contingency plans to expand if needed. We are at 59% total hospital bed capacity.
I think the best indication of how things are going is that local government leaders have basically completely shifted focus from planning for dealing with the medical emergencies to planning for dealing with budget shortfalls next year (which, because we have a fairly sizable rainy day fund, probably won't be a huge issue, either).

If you have any specific questions about moving to the area around Loyola, let me know.
Do you have an apartment picked out yet, or do you plan to stay in a residence hall?

Good luck.
Godspeed.
Make sure you have good ins.

I have a condo at the cotton mill in warehouse district, but much appreciated

I would move before things open up. Do it when less people are out, dont wait til every one is out and bout at once.

Houston has even more of a shortage of lawyers than does Louisiana. Loyola grads are in high demand in Texas.

Well, that's an appropriate name.

I have a couple firms I’ve worked for previously in Houston that suggested I take the full scholarship Loyola offered, and if I make the grades I’d be okay moving home afterward

Those are nice. Not cheap for a college student, though!
They’re also a bit of a drive away from campus.
New Orleans is a real checkerboard when it comes to good and bad neighborhoods/areas/streets/blocks. The warehouse district is generally safe, but be smart.

I’m really surprised to hear this! Shortage of lawyers? Explain yourself.

100% paid for?

Worked for law firms throughout college summers, took a job post grad and worked for three years as a tenant broker in commercial real estate. Taught me to work hard but I was bored and miserable every day
