All the locals were pleasant to me when I visited there. Course...it also helped I'm a cute white blonde chick as well. That and my friend I was with at the time is Navajo and has the name Leilani. Everyone just assumed she was Hawaiian.

Yeah I noticed that as well. We walked from our hotel in Waikiki to some bars and noticed them all just sleeping in sleeping bags on the sidewalk. You just tried not to step on them. I accidentally stepped on some homeless chick in my heels drunk stumbling back to our hotel at 3 am...she wasn't too happy

Man, it's true and mind boggling. Literally driving past Turtle Bay you'll find abandoned cars on the side of the road. Roadside huts serving food. Land with hovels on them - on the coast side - with 100 million dollar views and 100 dollar roofs.

It's amazing to think about what sits on land like that when you drive by.

Hau Tree is great eats.
