We tried to set-up St. George for you a couple of years ago, but the libs shot that down.
Maybe BR Country Club?

Well if you want to live in BR itself and have to work in Baker, look into apartments downtown, or try looking at places for rent in the Garden District or Capital Heights. Maybe you can find a garage apartment sort of arrangement.
You do not want to commute from South BR, Ascension, or Livingston, unless you work weird hours.

Man, there are a lot of haters in this thread.
There's decent stuff along Jefferson Highway and Corporate Boulevard - newer apartments, near a lot of restaurants and shopping. You're right in the middle of town.
I lived in Spanish Town for years, in the Capital View Apartments. It's a funky neighborhood with character and you can walk to downtown. Some of the landlords are a little shady in that they don't want to do any work on their properties, so look out. (The guys who run Capital View are OK.) The good thing about Spanish Town traffic wise is you're going in the opposite direction of most interstate traffic in the evening.

Just wanted to translate this for the OP. It's 420 and gay friendly.

It depends entirely on where your job is and how much you can afford, end of story.
If your job is downtown, live downtown, in the garden district, or in midcity (capitol heights, old goodwood, bernard terrace, bocage)
If your job is by O'Neil, look in and around Shenandoah, but make sure the area didn't flood.
If your job is by LSU, highland road corridor, southdowns, burbank, and downtown are all good options.
If you work in a plant in geismar, you will want to live near highway 30 or along 73 or near 44 at 22.
If your job is in plaquamine or D-Ville, your life will suck.
If your job is near highland at Airline or Old Jefferson, Inniswold, Santa Maria, Prarieville, highland road corridor, and antioch may be good bets, but watch for flooding.
If your job is near the hospitals, southdowns, capitol heights, inneswold, and the neighborhoods off of Bluebonnet are all good options.
As a single guy, my preferred neighborhoods, in general, are The Garden District, LSU Lakes, Capitol Heights, Bernard Terrace, Spanish Town, Beauregard Town (both are part of downtown), and southdowns. All are relatively safe and walkable with easy access to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, downtown, and campus.

Just moved to Spanish Town in June.
Right by the Interstate. Walk to downtown (and to work). Safe.

It's considers edgy and cool to dump on Baton Rouge on the OT for some reason. Never been able to figure it out. Weird for a LSU website.

With recent flooding make sure you do your due diligence.
