Me? No. I was the least of Ds problems. Others? Yeah. Absolutely.

Was I innocent? Absolutely not. I took money as did everyone else. But there are many a new truck parked in front of reg even now paid for entirely with stolen money.

People who would get greedy would get caught. I'd ring up 1400 bucks and pocket 60. Others would ring up 800and take 600.

I had a best friend doing that to my dad's business for God knows how long and for who knows how much money. It's pretty scummy and goes way beyond the expected leakage in a cash dominated business like a bar.

And the door guy stealing doesn't make it any better

That's pretty messed up.. Are you still best friends with that guy?

As for as the door guys, there might be some owners who would might expect that the door guy takes a little trim off the top every once in awhile, but for them to be pocketing $1k+ is a lot.

A friend of mine owns a daiquiri shop. It isn't a place that gets packed like bars in tigerland on game nights or anything, but the biggest problem he has in terms of keeping employees is people stealing. He has cameras in the bar, these people are aware of the cameras and still try to get away with stealing. It doesn't take long to realize money is coming up short.

Haven't talked to him since the day I found out. It's been 10+ years

Tigerland bartenders seemed like 24-30 year old drop out losers for the most part. Congrats on stealing

There are no high volume bars in BR and not really any major events events during the summer. The closest high volume bars are in New Orleans.
BR does have quite a few restaurant/bars that you could do well in but it's usually difficult to get a spot behind the bar at those establishments unless you know someone in management, you put in your time as a server/barback, or you're a very attractive female.

If you have to start as a server, make it explicitly clear to management that you have considerable bartending experience and you expect to be given an opportunity behind the bar if a position opens up or when they increase staffing for the fall.
If you're not a shitbag, they should be more amenable to it once you learn the menu, the sidework, and the POS system.

I knew 10+ people that worked at Fred's the last few years and they make some serious coin especially during the fall. I can tell you with 100% certainty that after the Auburn home game 3 years ago I believe ( game before last at home) the bar grossed over $100,000 in sales and bar tenders took home about 2k and bar backs pushing 1k. I know that's extreme but everyone I know that worked there I would say had to average about $250, and there was no stealing there because they would fire somebody in a heart beat.

Fred's is more believable. Larger area for patrons, 21 and up, and a lot of places within the bar to get a drink

18-20 year olds simply do not tip. I would put it at less than 10 percent of them do and they work in the service industry. Which is amazing considering the only reason anyone should consider risking their jobs to serve a minor, would be if there was a financial benefit to doing so. Juice being worth the squeeze and all that. And yet overwhelmingly they come into bars with fake arse IDs and get upset when they don't work

That happens a lot, but does not at Fred's. All of the guys I knew that worked there rarely went to other bars. I was good friends with a lot of them when I lived in BR

This happened to a buddy who worked there. Only person I knew of that got fired for stealing.

You have to work your way up, so it really is like a big family. Hell, they even go on vacations together

100,000k sounds like a lot, but think about it like this. The bar is open for 16-18 hours on game day (about 10AM-2AM). From what I understand they get about 3,000 through the door at $10 a piece so that's $30,000 without ever selling a drink. Some people stay all day and then after the game it's packed. I had a hard time believing it at first, but when you really think about it and break it down it's easily doable.

That's about 25 dollar spent on average per person that walked in. So I could believe those numbers

There are plenty of bars downtown to go look at.

Every option listed on page 1 was terrible. Work somewhere at tigerland if you want to make shitty drinks for wasted retards, getting 1-5 dollars a pop at best. You're much better off tending at a high end restaurant. BR has tons of swingers and girl groups go to places like that in droves for good specialty martinis. And less guest BS to deal with.

Oh I definitely believe the game day numbers at some places. Walkons GameDay take has to be around 150k for big games. Maybe 200k+ for Bama night games.

I know a girl that said she made over 2k for the Bama game. By the end of the night she said she wanted to murder everyone though
