I can take a 25% paycut and have more in BR.

I think the board would be able to help you more if you put an income range on here.

Moving to BR with a household income under 100k means you'll be living in one of the neighboring parishes and commuting, if you dont want to adhere to a tight budget.

Private school alone will cost you 8-10k/year/kid.

its a play on my user name, I don't live in Aspen - but I do ski there.

I can't hate on TX too much as I only go for rare work trips, just zero character for my taste, and massive.

You can negotiate with your NYC company to let you work from home in BR and keep the same compensation.

Hopefully it works for you.

Its massive for sure. Zero character is not true at all. Hill Country is beautiful and hooks everyone who travels there .

Why laugh? If he is moving back to have kids that statement is 100% correct.

$100k goes a lot farther when you aren’t paying $10-20K per kid for private school.

Laughing at the neighboring parishes part in particular. You could live in Central and be 15 minutes from IBM with good schools. Zachary and be 20 minutes. This is if he has multiple kids. If he only has one living in BR on ~100,000 would be easy as can be unless one is a complete dumbass financially.

Obviously I'm aware of the benefits of living in Texas, but I don't know if I can put a price tag on the family that we have in Louisiana.

TX is closer to family than current situation. Kids will change the game, and I'd worry about the lifestyle you would give up coming back to LA vs. what you can find in TX even with kids. TX seems like the middle ground between NY and Louisiana. Family would be a road trip away.

Moved from Denver to BR. Luckily my boss likes me, so I kept the same salary and job working from home. I only moved for my wife. Not a big fan of BR but the cost of living difference is huge and it is home.
