Not bad for starting under $60k.

LINK

Keep on mind, this is the base car, not the Z06, ZR1, Or the top dog yet to be named (Zora perhaps...)

quote:

With launch control engaged and 61 percent of the weight on the rear tires, the C8 Corvette Z51 shot to 60 mph in a staggering 2.8 seconds on the way to an 11.1-second quarter mile at 123.2 mph.

The quickest 755hp C7 ZR1 ran a 10.8-second quarter mile at 133.1 mph

Corvette is redefining expectations for a sub-$100k sports car.

Everything about the new Vette is a homerun.

Old men everywhere are going meet light poles sideways when they run out of talent.

I'm a little let down by the 1/4 mile time. With the rear weight bias, wicked quick tranny, chunky torque curve and quick 0-60 time I was expecting near .5 seconds quicker with a higher trap. Maybe there is a shift close to the beams or the extra weight is holding it back. It just seems odd for it to get gapped by 4 doors like the M5 and E63S.

In the end, it is still a huge bargain, even if as tested it was near $90k.

Hillbilly inbread redneck mode--on
"that ain't no curvette. what fur the motor in the middle?
that there motor should bes in the front...sounds like a homo idea.."

Hillbilly inbread redneck model -- off

Damn! This was a joke. Ppl will be hard pressed to justify $160k for a used Gallardo when they can have a new f430 clone with a warranty. The top end version will probably stomp any gallardo or f430 into the ground.

The new Vette is mouth watering.

To each his own....

Base C8 is faster than a 992 C2S at half the price, personally I think that's impressive for the base model. 992 C2S price as tested was $151k.

It's off to a good start - the first year's production run is already sold out.

Hillbilly inbred rednecks aren't driving Corvettes; Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs are more their style. Geriatrics are the demographic for the Corvette.

Dumbest thing I'll read all day.

The old men run rings around the younger set.

For years this has been the case, but the C7 demographic has shifted toward younger buyers and I'd suspect the C8 will push it even more.

Corvette has historically done well in endurance racing. It may not be a diesel Toyota Hilux, but I'd put it up against any European brand.

A $151,000 check would probably get a ZR1 Vette and then some. That car is going to be.....interesting.
