Motor Trend break down of the new Ford Bronco
Posted by goofball on 9/11/19 at 6:56 am214
The first Bronco that we will get in the US will be based on the Ford Escape crossover and will have a hybrid model.
In other news, Chevrolet is bringing back the Trailblazer.....as a compact crossover targeting younger buyers who like to think that they are rugged and outdoorsy. It will be on sale in January and will be offered on every continent on earth.
And if there was any doubt that all of Detroit’s automakers uses the same focus groups, both the new Trailblazer and new Bronco are going to offer multi-colored roof options and blacked out grills with their turbocharged 4 cylinder engines.

I am sure these are good crossovers that 17 year old girls will enjoy driving, but I miss the 1990s SUVs.

International Harvester introduced its Scout SUV five years before the launch of the 1966 Ford Bronco. So it almost seems fitting that Ford's new, rugged-looking Escape-based Bronco Scout—which may actually end up being called the Ford Adventurer—will launch before the highly anticipated Ranger-based Bronco. Shown here are artist's renderings of what we think it will look like.

Engine choices will mimic what's available for the new Escape, from a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-three with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft to a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft, plus two hybrids—a conventional hybrid and a plug-in-hybrid option—both coupled to a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four.

Only question that matters: would OJ drive it?

Also known as the baby Bronco, it arrives before the body-on-frame Bronco

That's like saying your main competition is the Detroit Tigers
Shhhttttt..... More like The Florida Marlins.
Laugh at the Fiat-based Jeep crossovers. They may offer Italian reliability, but they are popular with young women.
If Ford and General Motors cared about what young male buyers prefer, they’d have kept the Focus ST and Cruze RS in production. They’d have never canceled the truck-based Blazer and Bronco in the first place either.

Nothing screams Bronco like something based off the Escape.

What happened to the Blazer, Cherokee, and Bronco brands is a travesty. I hate crossovers.
Toyota wants a new crossover to slot between the Highlander and RAV4, and there are rumors the next generation 4Runner may do that - which means that we are losing the last body on frame SUV soon.

Thr Bronco you listed is targeted toward Jeep Compass buyers. Ford is also bringing out a Bronco that will target Jeep Rubicon buyers. Totally different animal.

Ford and General Motors might be the most tone deaf companies on earth. If their current lineup of crossovers were not satisfying buyer’s preferences for “real” SUV’s, they probably don’t even know it.
Both companies have lost touch with their home audience outside of the pickup truck market.
Ford’s leadership is especially horrific, having been caught flat footed in growth markets in SE Asia. Ford’s debt was actually downgraded to Junk this morning.
