Why is it elevated and promoted and valued so much more than Father’s day?

Mothers Day became an official U.S. holiday in 1914, but Fathers Day didn’t become one until 1972. You also have to look at the reasoning behind it. Back when women stayed at home to cook and clean, Mothers Day was created to sort of honor and acknowledge all the unseen hard work they did. It would have been thought of as ridiculous for men to have a special day just for them- working hard, doing a good job, and providing for the family was considered good enough. It’s only been in the last few decades that Fathers Day has become a thing.

Because women don't buy their own jewelry, but men buy their own guns and tools.

Companies can't market it because we buy our own shite the rest of the year.

And, if you tried to make Father's Day be more important or even as important as Mother's Day, women would bitch.

I don’t think either of them should be a big deal — I’m a mom and see it as a money maker and over commercialized.
