I think the stretch between Morgantown and Washington, PA usually gets hit harder by weather events than Pittsburgh. I don't find the winters up here to be that difficult though. I actually enjoy it. You should be fine with the explorer. Had one my first 2 years up here.

We had 8 inches of snow on easter sunday in Pittsburg 2015. No salt for the roads. It was a mess

I had snow in Amarillo for Easter in 2016. Was wild for me.

Was house sitting for parents late 80's/early 90's when they came down NWLA to grandparents for Easter. That's a yardstick on the level patio, the drifts left about 6 inches from the top of their 6' wood fence visible. Took the picture because 2 days later when they got back was only traces left in the shadowy areas as temps were back in the 70's.

And like 25 on Wednesday morning. Nothing like having fall, spring and winter in 3 days

When I went in to work this morning the snow plows and salt trucks had only hit the major highways heading to the hospital, but the road the two lane road with the down hill S-curve had not been touched. I have all-terrain tires and all wheel drive so I am good, but somebody had already wrecked because there was giant dent in the guard rail that was not there when I drove home yesterday.
