Louisiana might have the worst roads in the country in both quality and scenery

Nothing epic, but Angola Road and Spillman Road around St. Francisville are decent on a motorcycle. There are a few good roads in that area for riders.

In all seriousness, once you put the hookers and recyclable tires in your rear view, 90 to Bay St. Louis is pretty nice.

put way too far north to be of any real benefit for the area that needs it.

It comes in handy for me.

La 28 from Alexandria to Leesville

Only traversed that road once at night.

I had to bring my brother back to base for training.

Went through Alec to go, but came down 171 to Lake Chuck on the way back.

I think I got home at 2 or 3 in the morning.

That is the bestest side of the bayou.

Watch out for dangerous curves, no shoulders, drunks, bridges that barely meet current standards, and an occasional cane truck in October-December.

It's not a bridge that goes basically nowhere, and it was not a "glitch", it's all phasing dependent on funding.

Most of these "bridges to nowhere" across the Mississippi River were to replace ferries, especially after the Luling ferry disaster in 1978 that killed 78 people.

You build the bridge first and connect it to River Road on both sides of the river. Then later, as funding is acquired, you build linking highways to connect it to larger highways. Such was the case with the Hale Boggs Bridge in St. Charles Parish (I-310 came well after the bridge) and the Sunshine Bridge up near Donaldsonville.

Heck, the Gramercy (Veterans) Bridge itself was built in phases. I can remember a photo of the main (framed) superstructure fully completed and sitting all alone before the bridge ramps leading up to it were constructed.
