Their inclusion is laughable at best.
At best? It's downright blasphemous. Its clear the only thing this took in to account is nuclear capabilities, army size, and if the populace was armed or not. Look at Japanese suicide rates for starters, and then go into their fairly recent past in World War II, and then claim this is the 6th most peaceful country in the world.

I'm right there with ya. They are a ruthless, violent society.

Take it for what it's worth...

The Global Peace Index (GPI) is an attempt to measure the relative position of nations' and regions' peacefulness.[1] It is the product of Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP)

The core asset of the IEP is the Global Peace Index (GPI), which is now considered the benchmark study in measuring peace.

In August 1988, Killelea formed the Australian company Integrated Research, which was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2000. The company's main business is systems management for international corporations such as Visa, Mastercard and American Express; the New York, London and Hong Kong stock exchanges; and most of the world's ATMs.
That POS Steve Killelea should be more focused on getting AMEX accepted in more places instead of judging countries.
He's a busybody bitch apparently.
He certainly doesn't seem to have any reasonable credentials to judge the relative peacefulness of every country on the globe.

There is a reason why the Third Reich had a Swiss shaped hole in it.
Partly, but it also benefited Germany to have a neutral country next door where they could stash funds and run agents and diplomats through. If it had been in Germany's interest, and they really wanted to, they could have taken Swizerland, Particularly since there were plenty of Swiss Nazi sympathizers who would have welcomed an invasion.

Scandinavia is the GOAT for sexy women
Not even close! Scandinavian models are cherry picked from the masses, and the majority of Scandinavian women are butch and hyper-masculine feminists.
East European Slavic women and Baltic women are by far the GOAT, and it's not even close.

I can think of many homogenous countries in Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East that are complete shite holes.

Why does the US rank so low?
Because we like violence in our sports, in our movies, in our TV shows, in our music, and it's glamorized and portrayed as manly characteristics.

yeah...that is not the reason

Yeah, just a mere coincidence.
We also love controversy, arguing, telling people off, one upping the other guy, and people drama... Oh how we like people drama. We could watch people's crazy arse bickering and drama on TV all night and day.

Take out NO, Chicago, Washington DC, and we are probably in the Top 10.

Mike, I know, or god I at least hope, that you are not dumb enough to believe that the main reason why we are a violent country is because of violence in pop culture.
Posted on 4/29/14 at 7:46 am to beejon
There's so many factors that go into this. We're a big target of terrorist attacks so that drops us down. We're at war. We receive a dis proportionally large amount of media coverage around the world so our mass shootings are highly publicized and that contributes as well

Not me and you, or most, but for the absolute dumb fricks that are so easily persuaded by it and can't differentiate play time from reality, yes, it becomes their reality.
They're soft in the head, so yeah, it has an influence on the very weak minded in society, those who are the most violent and emulate whatever they see portrayed as cool in entertainment they are immersed in, namely the music. That infects their communities and begins to be seen as the mark of the alpha males in those communities, and what you need to be like if you're going to be seen as a real man In that community. Rather than reading a book being sen as cool, or intelligence as the mark of a real man, it's the tough guy, the violent thug.
