I do have to question though how the hell Japan qualifies for that list, since they have perhaps the most violent history of any civilized nation in the past 100 years.

Switzerland is one of the most military ready nations on the globe. Literally every bridge and road leading out of the surrounding mountains is rigged w/ explosives to stall a land invasion. There is a reason why the Third Reich had a Swiss shaped hole in it.

And aside from the ski resorts, it was basically worthless to them for the time being. The Swiss were of little concern to the Germans.
