My dad could grow anything. We grew fresh peaches, oranges, blueberries, blackberries, plums, Asian pears, figs, bananas, broccoli, raspberries, etc. I can’t name everything because he was always experimenting with something. He even grew bamboo for use with musical instruments. We had a peach/orange orchard with around 250 trees on acres of land. I worked so hard growing up doing this I don’t have a single fruit tree in my yard, lol. He also spent 5 summers doing research on a banana plantation in Jamaica. He frequently went snorkeling during his time off.

Damn, that sounds a lot like mine. Oldest of seven. Grew up dirt poor on a small farm in Bradley County, AR (Hermitage). No indoor plumbing til he left for college.

Seen him make 3 holes in one. Watched him put up 20+ points in a church league hoops game in his early 50s. Just flipped up his left handed set hook shot over and over.

I think your dad might be a Korean dictator. So many holes in one.

We didn’t have many fireworks for Christmas but dad wasn’t gonna let that get us down.

Dude got his oxy/acetylene torch and filled a balloon up with gas. It was a big arse balloon too.

He stood back maybe 5-10 feet and shot it with a Roman candle. Damn thing was powerful enough to blow his hat off his head.

It was this moment that I realized all of my dads wild stories where probably true.

My dad restarted his career many times. After decades of try, fail and try again, he finally found his spot and was a success.
So the most impressive thing he did was not quit.

So many things but watching him gut a deer in less than minute was pretty damn impressive.

About to embark on fatherhood, I have not one male role model to look up to other than my Father in law. He does well enough, but it isn't the same.

I'll never do that to my child. I don't see how you could

You’ll do great.
My father never made me feel that I was in the way, and was always happy to have me go with him places-even if it was only to the store, or for a ride.
Do that, and your kid will never forget it.
Good luck!

Jumped off a bluff about 30-40 feet up into a river to save my 5 year old sister who had somehow gotten past the safety rope and was being taken down current fairly fast. He got her though.
