Captain Power was a huge disappointment in the late 80s

All commercials showed a mom and dad but I didn’t have one.

I remember my mom trying to help me put toys together and it didn’t always work out.

Although it would make me sad, I could still tell that it made her sadder.

Just kidding. I had a dad but alot of kids don’t and it fricks them up for life.

Instead of talking shite all the time, join a big brother program.

Uncle?

I guess I could have elaborated and said my dad had a health issue at the time that prevented him from sitting on the floor for 4 fricking hours putting together an elaborate GI Joe warship, so he got my then 25 year old uncle to do it....but I didn’t think anyone would really care.

My biological father sent it to me for Christmas. My stepdad (I considered him my dad) put it together. My mom later told me how irritated he was spending four hours putting it together while I stood next to him and talked about how awesome my biological father was the entire time.

It’s gotta be Mousetrap. Took forever to set up. Pieces always got lost. And when you finally got it ready to play the game itself was a big letdown.

The fact my transformers couldn't transform themselves always gave me the red arse.

I think it was called the hovercraft.. It was a remote control hovercraft and on the commercial that think would fly (go fast), it would go over water without missing a beat. All I could think about what one day after it rained and taking that bad boy out and going over water puddles like it was nobody's business.

Christmas comes around and I get it. It didn't go nearly as fast as it did on TV and the second time I went over a water puddle, the bottom of it, the rubber part that lifted it up, tore. Piece of shite..

Same exact thing for me. Mine broke when a stick went through the back of where the rudders were and broke a rudder. I had never and have never been so excited for a christmas gift and it was a letdown. Obligatory pic:

Wow. Haven’t even thought of that one since the 80’s. There were a few laser gun toys designed to be “interactive” with a TV show. That problem is that they all sucked.

There were also commercials for Transformers & He-Man underwear where the kids transformed into those characters when they put them on. I was really pissed when I didn’t turn into Optimus Prime.....

Did anyone have the GI Joe Aircraft Carrier?

A neighbor of mine had it. It was basically a chest to store your GI Joe figures and vehicles. It sucked as a stand-alone toy but it was functional at least.

Splatmaster Paintball gun

I got one of these pieces of shite as a kid. The commercials looked awesome. It shot like 3 feet. I got fricking slaughtered one day in a real paintball game with my friends.
