So are their insurance rates higher ? Huh State Farm ? Are they ? Oh i forgot, in Louisiana I pay more because of those who don't have insurance. That makes sense.

This. And it aint close. They let anybody drive 18 wheelers out there

Yeah it’s probably pretty tranquil right now
We had the driving monitors on our company trucks so I was limited to 78 mph or I got dinged. Might as well have been going 35

Did they only look at deaths per mile? How about the number of cars as well.

Yes that's what they used, deaths per 100 miles of road. They pulled the stats from this site.

No. 15 is US Route 175. The roadway averages about 0.7 deaths per mile, but almost half of those occur in the Dallas area.
There is a 90 degree curve on 175 that is pretty treacherous if you aren't paying attention and don't slow down. Txdot is working to remove this curve.

Yup. Another wild one was 349 south of midland. It was literally a gravel road for like 3 years

I would have voted for that neighborhood road in Metairie where we used to jump the canal bridge back in the early 80s.

Is houston really the bayou city?
Yes, they have called themselves that as long as I can remember. I don't hear it a lot but I have heard it consistently. It's mainly because its home to 10 bayous that flow thru it.
Here's some other Houston nicknames:
Space City
H-Town
Clutch City- lol because they are not
Two of my favorites are:
Baghdad on the Bayou
City of Lean- because of how much codeine they drink.

290 is worse than either part of 45
Gulf fwy is worse than North fwy
10 out by katy might be the worst of all

I do hate 45 and agree with the article.
I'm kinda surprised I-35 between Austin and San Antonio isn't on the list. It's a well built road with six lanes but there never fails to be a big accident on it.
I check the Waze every time I'm scheduled to go to San Antonio and if its blocked up (which is a lot) I quickly change plans and go another day.

I think they went overboard with the rain grooves on 290. They make my car drift around on the road. It's a little freaky at higher speeds.

I45. The perfect mixture:
- extremely crowded / busy interstate near a major city
- a lot of BMW / Mercedes / Tesla drivers who are more important than the rest of the population hurrying to get from downtown to the burbs
- a lot of illegal Mexicans driving broken down 92 Toyota Corrolas
- a lot of truckers delivering loads

It’s the never ending series of overpasses. Drivers going 75-80 mph and can’t see what’s on the down slope of the overpass. Even if you are paying attention, it’s difficult to stop short of an issue....and they just keep coming.
