I got used to it after a few weeks. It makes me feel more awake throughout the day and I like knowing I can go home straight from work and do what ever I want.

Downside is if you go out often on week nights, you aren't going to get a great workout in hungover on 4 hours of sleep.

I thought scruffy was an MD. One of my away rotations this past year I got there at 3:30 am every day

Short answer--takes a couple weeks.
Switched to mornings the first week of December and it's really been great. Wouldn't say I'm a "morning person" but after getting used to it, I've been full of energy all day.

But previous poster was right--tough to party during the week bc I'm usually ready for sleep no later than 10.

Good luck

2-3 weeks.
I don't like mornings either but I switched to morning workouts and its been great. Gets you going in the morning and gives you energy for morning rounds, etc.
Stick with it and good luck.

I work shift work so when I work nights I go to the gym right when I get off in the morning before going to bed and on days go after I get off at 6pm. People think I'm crazy for going after being up all night but I much prefer that then messing with the 6pm crowd.

After a night shift I'm just going home and going to bed so why not workout first but after a day shift in ready to go home drink a beer sit on the couch and watch tv so the evening workout requires a little more motivation

Never. I can't do mornings. I can mentally function at 6:00am but my body can't lift at that time. I'm in the afternoon.

You get a better workout in the morning.

That's science. You should know that

the ARMY had it right all along...

but anytime you drop a good habit like that, it takes a lot to reincorporate that into your routine, just because

I've been in the gym in the AM consistent for 3 years and am not a morning person. If that's you....
I freaking hate going any earlier than 5:30. I just can't.
Monday and Tuesday are way easier than end of week, so I do those two and take Wed off. Work out Thursday and usually make Friday.
Biggest transition that got better just with a little effort was changing my bed time. I go to bed at 9:30 now rather than 11:30. I really don't miss that time at all and just took getting my routine adjusted. But that took a few months.

I'm a morning person and I hate working out in the morning unless I'm doing it at the gym.

If I get out of bed, I'm ready for a morning workout. It's the getting out of bed that's difficult. For me, 4 a.m. is the only time I know I can get a workout in. If I try at lunch, I may be working on something and can't sneak away for a while. After work and the pool at the gym may be full, my wife may work late and I need to get my son etc.. there seem to be more excuses in the afternoon. So I force myself to get up most times.

The toughest part is the day you take a break. Those mornings you get to sleep in are so great it's really tough to convince yourself to get up early again

I wake up promptly at 5:30am every morning and after 20 years of on-and-off working out, I just could never adjust to a.m. workouts...I switched from week day workouts to a Friday-Monday routine - that way 2 of the 4 days I can workout during the mid-morning hours.

It's better to work out with having fasted anywhere from 8 to 10 hours? I don't think so.

It's better to do a cardio session on an empty stomach first thing in the morning
