Oh shite. The weekly crawfish thread where we get 35 people saying " water too high, too cold, global warming, etc"

everything that i've read said this is going to be a banner year

All our bugs are going out of state which is going to keep the price high.

For the crawfishermen, as usual.
Fuel at lowest price in 12 years and water conditions perfect, yet they will still be $1.50/lb in May

Demand.

I'm seeing boiled crawfish for under $4/LB which is good for this time of year. Hopefully we get to under $2/LB.

I paid $34 for a 5 lb order last week. 6.80 per lb. highway robbery, but then again, it's supply vs demand.

Why do they charge $4/lb, because people pay $4/lb,

Saw someone in Winn Dixie paying $4.99 a lb, buying 50 lbs on a Louisiana card a couple days ago.

All of this.
I've seen prices as high as $7/lb for LIVE crawfish in Baytown, TX in April of last year. I'm tempted to buy a refrigerated truck and start smuggling those bastards across state lines.

they don't use refrigerated trucks....pack in ice
eta: and the guy that brings them is making about a quarter a pound
