Restaurant owners make more profit off of imports.

21/25 domestic tails cost 6 dollars a pound. Imports cost the Restaurant 3 dollars a pound. They make more $$$

Its way cheaper

We know that, but all the smalltown commodities festivals claim to be supporting local industries, farmers, fishermen, shripmers, etc...

If the local industry is buying some imported shrimp or crawfish to heat up, well, I can do that shite at home for cheaper.

Not necessarily.

If you want pre cooked, deheaded, dehselled, deveined, cookie cutter shrimp to set out on a cocktail tray, then imported is cheaper.

If you're getting a bunch of baws together, the cheapest route is to get fresh 16ct right off the boat for $3 or so, and throw em in the pot like God intended

Landry needs to ban all imported seafood in Louisiana. It's that fricking simple.

So Albacore Tuna should be illegal to possess in Louisiana? You want the government telling us where we can buy our food?

That's sad to see happen. Now the tough part: are locals willing to pay more for local shrimp????? Everyone says they are but wait till they get in Sam's or WalMart and buy that imported shrimp bc they want it cheaper. It reminds me back in the 80s when Walmart told us they were only selling USA made products and they soon gave up on that idea bc people wanted it cheaper. Many people don't have the stomach or desire to pay more for something for a true cause.
