The Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion, Louisiana's largest-ever project to rebuild coastal land, was approved on Wednesday to receive $2.26 billion to move forward with construction, with work expected to begin on the unprecedented plans later this year.

The decision was issued by the federal-state panel that oversees BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill restoration efforts in Louisiana. The money will come from settlement proceeds related to the 2010 spill.

That's good news unless you have a camp at Myrtle Grove. That place will be a mud hole. Catfishing ought to be good.

I was just thinking about this. Every year i just donate my state refund to preserving our coast or whatever option you can select.

Does that money actually go to that? You can donate it to other things, like abuse victims, veterans, etc... But every year around tax time i wonder if that money actually makes it to the things you select to donate to.

If you want your money to really make a difference give it straight to the end user. Like find a veteran abusing women in the wetlands or something.
