BULLYING [ON] OFF
quote:
A third businessman who contributed money to Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s political campaigns has been contacted by federal investigators in recent weeks, in another sign that the probe into the mayor is intensifying.
The businessman, a developer in the French Quarter, received a federal grand jury subpoena seeking texts and other documents related to his discussions with Cantrell about the possibility of her renting an apartment from him, according to two sources with knowledge of the subpoena.
quote:
One of the sources also said the FBI has separately approached several hoteliers about whether Cantrell or a member of her NOPD security detail, Jeffrey Vappie, ever stayed in their properties.
Vappie’s wife has accused him in a divorce filing of having an affair with Cantrell, and an internal NOPD investigation found Vappie spent hours on the clock alone with Cantrell inside the Pontalba apartment.
quote:
The businessman that Cantrell apparently sought to rent from is at least the third person subjected to questioning by federal investigators about their interactions with the mayor in the last few months, according to two other sources with knowledge of those conversations.
All three people known to have been questioned by the FBI are developers who contributed to her campaigns, records show. At least one of them had directly corresponded with the mayor, by text or email, and the FBI was aware of those conversations.

Gross no matter how you look at it.

I loathe Cantrell but What is the crime in inquiring about renting an apartment?

You can’t be that ignorant to what she’s been doing.

And every New Orleans voter said there wasn't anyone else to vote for.
I dont think a City and Mayor deserve each other more than these two.

Shes having an affair with her security detail and all of this is being paid for by the taxpayers. And she travels around the world racking up first-class charges. On the taxpayer.

Isn't Mitch Landrieu the only recent NOLA mayor that did not serve prison time? It seems rare when these crooks are not seen in cuffs. Corruption is practically an expectation.

They all suck but Chocolate City is the only one who got cuffed in recent years.

I think the implication is that she was looking for a free ride but the article certainly didn’t say that this happened.
In fact, it said the opposite. One apartment owner said he wanted more than his normal rent.
Perhaps there is some sort of kick back scheme where she paid a high rent (paid for by taxpayers) and she received a kick back. The article didn’t say that.
I also don’t see anything that says that tax payers were paying for these apartments.
Tell us exactly what you think the article is implying.

Unfortunately there really wasn't.
I voted for the token Republican asian lady, but no one of note ran against her.
I spoke to someone on the City Council that would have ran and likely will this time.
His/her words: "No one wants this mess right now"

The angle is likely dealing with the Vappie disciplinary investigation and whether it was accurate/fair.
Cantrell may or may not be the primary target here, but NOPD violating the consent decree. Whether Cantrell influnced the investigation is going to be another part.

This stuff is not the only stuff they are after Teedy for.
