The article though is about her wanting to rent apartments. She called some donors to enquirer and they quoted her above the going rate. That is not illegal.
The article doesn’t mention that she rented anything from these people. It appears as though she didn’t.
I’d like to know where she’s living and maybe then we can get some idea of whether or not she’s getting some sort of favor from a donor.
Otherwise, I think the article is fairly innocuous.
The woman is crooked. She’s also a racist.
Her declaration that this sort of stuff seems to be more prevalent for black elected officials is absurd.

Even the president has restrictions on what can be accepted and what the value is. A local politician like the Mayor certainly has to follow ethical guidelines and reporting for something like that. As far as being a crime, I don't know. But certainly unethical. If Fun Bunch is right then they may have her on some other stuff that got uncovered during the investigation of something else. Feds don't play.

The article isn’t even about Cantrell, she wasn’t subpoenaed nor does it say she’s even being investigated.
Her name was only mentioned bc she the mayor(the person that was inquiring about renting an apartment).
Cantrell is under several federal investigations but this isn’t one of them

If he is working it is illegal. She can't use city funds to pay for social hour. Also needs to show conflict of interest. Also needs to adhere to the consent decree.
If she was trying to rent an apartment (or was trying to rent an apartment with Vappie) then that means the disciplinary review was false. Meaning she misled a federal review.
So yes, plenty of potential illegal things could be happening.
